The Social Context of Careers The world continues to change and grow each day. With that, the same can be said for the job market. Due to the constant changes, it is very important for businesses to operate in the modern-day as much as possible. If businesses cannot adjust and familiarize themselves with the changes in the workplace, then they will find their business at risk (â€Å"Must-Have Characteristics of the Modern Manager,† 2014). Furthermore, a shift in the meaning of career success is greatly changing as well. With the rise of global business and international careers, many concerns have surfaced over social influences on careers and developing labor laws and regulations that influence the ways in which individuals, organizations, and society view career development (â€Å"Career Development,† n.d.). This paper is going to further examine what social context of careers is and the effect it has on careers, the difference between customized careers and traditional careers, how family backgro und and social class play a role in the work environment, and the impact of multicultural organizations.
